100 Days of Positive Thinking: Day 21 (Gold Coast dreamin' and SUPS)

I had made the trip from the 'Murica to Ghana in the last few days. My internet has been and will continue to be infrequent over the next few days, so excuse the infrequent posting over the next few weeks. Today I am happy about the beginning of my summer project, SUPS 1-4-7. We are renovating a school on the outskirts of a Accra with funds I received from my school's Institute of Global Citizenship. Check out the Facebook page here.

Swoon ......: Stephen Colbert

Oddly, I never imagined young Colbert as the ruggedly handsome type. I'm into it ....

Song of The Day: 'Final Form' by Lianne La Havas

It's no secret that I am a big fan of Lianne La Havas. While I love her original songs, she also does some amazing covers. Her choice of artists such as Scott Matthews and Jill Scott (whoa, two Scott's, haha!) is an indication of her great taste in music. I am a particularly big fan of her cover of Everything Everything's 'Final Form'. Check it out!

Enjoy!

Interior Inspiration: The Perfect Tree House

I am tree house lover. I have had an obsession with these cosy little homes since I was a little girl and always dreamt of escaping to one with a pile of books, some family and friends for a little while (or forever, haha!). Whenever the world or people become too much for me, I always joke that it is time for me to make my way to my treehouse. Isn't this one just perfect?

100 Days of Positive Thinking: Day 21 (Ms. Lauryn Hill Concert!!)

Yesterday, my sister and I had the privilege and pleasure of seeing Ms. Lauryn Hill live in concert. Lauryn Hill is one of my all time favourite musical acts. Not only is this lady ridiculously talented, she is politically and socially aware and incorporates this into her music and her life. And she is freakin' stylish too. I mean look at the outfit she had on? I could rave about her for days and days, but I think I will save that for an Artist on My Mind post in the near future. My sister and I was fangirling so hard. We even got a bit weepy, we were to happy to be there.

That outfit, tho. I was too short to snap a good close-up so my sissy took this for me. Thanks, Nana!

Do you listen to Ms. Lauryn Hill?

Song of The Day: 'Motherless Child' by Dubie TK

Getting a little up close and personal today with my Song of The Day. I have been trying to put myself more out there, and started this blog and a Soundcloud as a part of that. So I am being brave and sharing my Soundcloud on here. I mainly have covers up on the page, and today I am sharing my cover of the spiritual, 'Motherless Child'. Stop by my profile to hear my others covers, if you like.

Whew, that was nerve-wracking. Have a lovely day!

Swoon .......: Bearded For Her Pleasure

As a major beard enthusiast, I completely endorse the message on this t-shirt.

Goals: Styleinspo a la Remi (Hands Of Style)

When I first came across Remi's blog, Hands of Style sometime last year, I literally looked through the entire thing in one evening. Her sense of style is so lovely. It achieves a balance between looking sharp and sleek, but still casual. I would definitely apply the term 'life swag' to this lady and her amazing sense of style. Effortlessly cool.

This lady is a boss at layering. Be it layering a denim coat under an army jacket. (She is fan of Ye, just like me). Or blazer under tweed coat. Or layering a denim coat with some fur to keep warm in the colder months. No need to sacrifice chicness during autumn and winter.

Remi is big fan of the boy-friend coat trend, as well as being a major lover of jeans. She pulls the two together nicely with cool sweaters and t-shirts. This usually results in a tomboy-chic look, that she adds a feminine touch to by adding heels or wedges, and a purse.

I love the way Remi styles her blazers. Sometimes, they are paired with matching pants, and loafers or brogues for a 60s mod look. Other times with a t-shirt or sweater, pair of jeans and sky-high heeled boots to complete the outfit.

It is not always easy to make a varsity tee look polished, but Remi makes it happen, by pairing it with a blazer and pair of sleek loafers pulled together with simple, but chic accessories.

One of my favourite things about Remi's style is that while she maintains a tomboyish spin, she keeps it feminine and versatile with touches of pastel colour in her clothes and accessories, opting for more fitted trousers, and playing with prints.

Song of The Day: 'Next To Me' by Emeli Sande

Emeli Sande is such an amazing song-songwriter, and her voice is so smooth and beautiful. I have been listening to this song again and again this morning and afternoon. Listening to her songs today  has motivated to get back into gear with singing and songwriting. So I'm off to sing a bit. I'm a bit (read: very) rusty Have a lovely day!

Enjoy!
