Goals: Styleinspo a la Andrea Bomo

It's getting darker earlier and there is a chill in the air, which makes me very happy! I can't wait for the leaves to begin to switch up their colours and for it to be socially acceptable for me to play Christmas music. Yes, I am that person who would start listening to Christmas songs in August if the world would not chastise me for it. But in the mean time, I am excited to listen to veer toward a more melancholy soundtrack and list of films and cozy up on the couch.

In this transitional time, I'm also drawing inspiration for my autumn outfits. I am excited to bring out the sweaters and duster coats for the fall season and to wear more layers. Andrea Bomo is style baddie and featuring heavily on my autumn fashion moodboard. She used live in Paris and ran a blog called Paris Most Wanted. She has since relocated to Cameroon and now runs the blog

These are great looks for that awkward space of time when it's too chilly to not wear a sweater, but still not cold enough to properly bundle up. I am loving the rule-breaking of pairing black and different shades of brown together. Gorge.

The unconventional colour-combinations here are everything. Who knew red, turqouise, and hot pink could go together so well. Ms. Bomo did and she is gracious enough to share this with the rest of us. Also loving the oversize sweater with the peak-a-boo skirt. Going to be living in looks like this one this autumn, to be quite honest.

In addition to being a colour palette connoisseur, Andrea is master of combining textures. Here she brings together cozy knits, smooth leather, and crisp linen to make an amazing fall/winter transitional outfit.

How perfect is this suede-shearling coat? I've been searching for one like this for quite some and this look is making me think that I need to amp my search. Open-toed shoes with sandals is the future, y'all. We can thank Andrea Bomo for teaching us the way forward. Make sure to stop by her blog and show her some love.

Who's inspiring your fall moodboard?

Song Of The Day: "They Can't Take That Away From Me" by Ella and Louis

I really can't think of musical duo whose harmonies move me quite like Ella and Louis. Individually, they are already vocal and emotive forces to be reckoned with. Together, they achieve a musical connection that is purely transcendent. And we the listeners have the great privilege of eavesdropping on the magic they produce together.

This song in particular has a special place in my heart. I sang it during my speech at my high school graduation and it will always remind of that time in my life, evoking a combination of joy and aching nostalgia. Those moments were truly precious.

What are you listening to today?

100 Days of Positive Thinking: Day 65 (The Art and Power of Self-Definition)

Recently I've been spending quite a bit of time contemplating the art and power of self-definition. I think it's really important to make time and find spaces in which we are able to mould ourselves and growi into the versions of ourselves we have always dreamt of being.

I find such great joy in focusing on the things that I do have the ability to change and make better. Our world is constantly wrought with ugliness, and it is essential to think of ways that we can be instrumental in improving it condition. But in order to do that, we have to make sure we taking good care of ourselves. I recently had the great honour of attending a screening of one my favourite films ever, "Sankofa" by Ethiopian-American director, Haile Gerima. Mr. Gerima has been one of my heroes for a long time, thanks to an introduction by my mama as a child. He spoke about the importance of self-analysis and self-change, and cited this as the foundation for sustainable community change. This is beautiful philosophy, but can be difficult to apply as humans are not always the most adept at being self-reflexive. But as Mr. Gerima suggest, the key is start with the self. And that's my current mission ....

Swoon ...: Colin Firth

I just saw Bridget Jones Baby with my sisters this week, and Colin Firth is as bae-ish as ever. Still as charming as in this photo of him as a 21 year old, early in his acting career.

I am also drawing inspiration from his outfit here - I love the combination of the distressed pullover with the neatness of the trouser, shirt, and blazer combination. Beautifully done. Playing it up with some Doc Martens would be fun for a homage to the rude boy aesthetic. Oh Colin, always offering ample wardrobe and swoon inspiration!

100 Days of Positive Thinking: Day 64 (Parisian Positivity)

These past few days I have been struggling to stay positive. However, looking through my photos of reminded me of this beautiful day in Paris. I was sixteen and on my first trip with friends and no parents. My friends and danced outside Notre Dame, ate baguettes, and had the time of our lives.

Happy Labour Day Weekend!
