Swoon ....: Adam Duritz

Adam Duritz from Counting Crows. So quirky and handsome. I feel like in addition to his amazing musical talent, he would just be a blast to hang out with.

Song Of The Day: 'Crossing Muddy Waters' by John Hiatt

I am big fan of folksy, country music and John Hiatt has over the past couple of years become one of my favourite artists. 'Crossing Muddy Waters' was the first song I ever heard by him. This song is so sad and so beautiful, it makes my heart hurt. Hiatt wrote it after his wife committed suicide, and the raw emotion that inspired the song really comes through, both in the lyrics and the melody. A musical masterpiece that I listen to on repeat frequently.

Do you listen to John Hiatt?

100 Days Of Positive Thinking: Day 30 (Basketballin')

Jk, I was not playing basketball yesterday. I wish I had, but I was too tired (and lazy) so I watched the on the various classes play. It was a cool night. The senior class won, go 2015! They did a great job. Then I just hung out, dancing and fooling about with my mentor precious and some other folks. I hit the sack pretty early, a little after 10pm since the night before (stayed up late, chatting with my roomie).

Oh, and I forgot to share on here that a couple of days ago, they did a formal welcome for the class of 2018. The did a traditional Akan welcome for them with adowa dance and drums. They gave each member of the new class a calabash with water inside (no palm as our campus is a dry one, lol!). The calabashes are really pretty, with the school logo engraved on them. After the ceremony, the gave each of the exchange students (there are three of us) a calabash as well. I plan to hang it upwhen I go back to my usual school as a reminder of my time here.

Isn't  the calabash lovely?

How is your day going?

Interior Inspiration: High Ceilings, White Walls and Large Windows

I am always dreaming of a future home (apartment) that has high ceilings, white walls and large windows like the one above. I feel like even on rough and trying days, a home like that would feel like a refuge. Somewhere you can breathe.

Goals: Styleinspo a la New York Fashion Week

So this week is New York Fashion Week (NYFW).  Now I dream of going there myself one day. But thank God for Fashion Bomb Daily for posting photos of the awesome outfits of NYFW on their website.

I don't know if these two individuals are in a relationship. But if they are, they have got mad couple swag. I cannot with her jumpsuit. Freakin' perfection.

These baes, tho. Something about bare ankles just elevates the suit look for me.

But look at this classy look? When I envision my professional dress style,
I picture something like this.

Neutrals all over with a single pop of colour. And that awesome hair, tho.

I love the softness and femininity of the skater skirt paired with the more masculine brogues. So good. And his Kenzo sweater. And his creamy white shoes. Just everything.

Ugh, so good. I really want to have a suit tailored to my body. One that has the classic masculine structure with feminine touches, like a more fitted trouser.

So much good stuff going on in this photo. Let's start from the left. First the high-waisted boots paired with the cropped oxford shirt, grey mini skirt and the coolest bum bag/fanny pack I've ever seen. Then the effortlessness of grey joggers matched with a structured blazer. The rich brown-coloured leather dress and Pharell hat go together oh-so-well! And last, but not least the crisp cardigan, trouser and white sneaker combo. I wanna hang out with these cool-looking people.

These fellas. So glad gents are bringing dapper back. It's oh-so-attractive.

Are you following New York Fashion Week?

100 Days Of Positive Thinking: Day 29 (A Good Day)

Today we performed the song 'Beautiful' for the school community and it went well. I am glad I was able to participate in this community event this early into my time here. I spent most of my day otherwise watching videos by Akilah Hughes on YouTube and laughing my buns off. I came across a collab she did with Stuff Mom Never Told You (not sure what her name is, lol) and so I started watching her videos. What can I say? The internet is working again so I am indulging on YouTube to make up for lost time. And making the most of the time before my school schedule gets really heavy. Anyway back to the video by Stuff Mom Never Told You. Now while my mum and dad did tell me most of the things on that page, I enjoyed the video about women's preference for beards. So I'm sharing it. You are welcome!

Have a wonderful night, y'all!

Song Of The Day: 'Dead Again' by Asa

Asa is undoubtedly one of my favourite artists, one that I know I will still listen to when I'm 80. I am so inspired by the fact her music is so deep and yet so catchy. Her style is incredibly eclectic (from soul, funk, folk to afrobeat) and she cannot be placed in a box. Her new album Bed Of Stone is out and I am super excited about it. I am really jonesing on the track 'Dead Again', which she plays at the beginning of this video. There is an interview too where she shares some stuff about her creative process. Check it out.

What are you listening to?
